Accessibility Information

We want to make your visit as easy and rewarding as possible. Writers Theatre can accommodate individuals with special needs as follows:

Click here for the WTNJ Accessibility portal, where you will find the current season marketing material, large-print programs, and scripts for all public New Play Development activities for this year. This will open in a new tab.

Public Transportation Directions to the Madison Community Arts Center. Madison is located on the NJ Transit Morris and Essex Line, and is an accessible train station, with elevators at the center of both tracks. Elevated platforms are accessible from the front car of all trains, and there are ramps down to the track-level platform.

West-bound passengers: Take the elevator to level SB Underpass (not the street level), cross under the tracks through the tunnel to King’s Road. Follow directions below.

East-bound passengers: Take the elevator to street level, and make a right to the parking lot on King’s Road.

Once on King’s Road: You will know you are on the correct street if you see Borough Hall (if you are looking at an old movie theatre, you are on the wrong side). Looking at Borough Hall, make a right and proceed down King’s Road towards the flag pole. At that intersection (Green Ave.), cross to the other side of the street. Proceed one block to Green Village Road (Sunoco station on corner). Cross Green Village Road and continue on King’s Road until you reach a large apartment complex (Rose Hall). The Madison Community Arts Center is on the first floor of the building. Proceed to the main driveway, make a left, go up a gentle rise, where you will see a walkway that leads to the room.

Limited Mobility

Our performance spaces are fully accessible to patrons with limited mobility. We also set aside seating for patrons who either use a wheelchair and prefer to remain in the wheelchair through the performance or who use a wheelchair and want to transfer to a theatre seat. We can also arrange for the companions of those patrons to purchase seats adjacent to the patron.

The Writers Theatre offices are, unfortunately, not wheelchair accessible. If you’re meeting with us at our offices, please call ahead so that we can make arrangements to meet with you in a wheelchair accessible room upstairs, here in the Civic Center building.

To arrange for any of these considerations, please call our Box Office: 973-514-1787 x11

We have accessible parking spaces for patrons with limited mobility at all Writers Theatre events. Please contact the Box Office at least 24 hours prior to the performance for information on where to find accessible parking: 973-514-1787 x10
