The Paper Soldier is the story of Thaddeus Grey, a young student who witnessed the rise of Aritenia’s infamous King Casimir Dimitrov through his turbulent reign in the 1930s. An expat in search of a cause worth fighting for, Grey is quickly pulled into the gravity of a King a thousand years out of his his time, a warrior knight with a faith capable of moving mountains. Trapped between the fall of the old dogmas and the rise of fascism, the two men must work together to save their country’s soul in a world gone mad, while risking their own in the bargain. For in this story of the rise and fall of Empires, Grey must also account for the part he played at the end of an era, during the dark and wondrous days of the Paper Soldier.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Nicky Glossman has been writing plays since the age of 15. The same year, he won the Baker’s Plays Playwriting Competition and was published by Samuel French. Since then, he has graduated from Brown University (’18), earned several other theater awards, and has been produced throughout the East Coast. Notable workshop and production credits include The Professional (with Ed Asner), Lincoln and Grant (with Len Cariou), Legion (with John Astin) and Titans (with David Strathairn). Now an old man of 24, Nicky is very excited to be back at Writer’s Theater, which he has been roosting at long before he ever thought of becoming a writer himself. He’d like to blame his director, his extraordinarily talented actors and his dog, Bubby. Member, Dramatists Guild.
