Ruth Zamoyta

In 2016 Ruth Zamoyta wrote her first play, The Caregivers. It won her a 2018 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship and was a semi-finalist for the 2018 Bay Area Playwrights Festival. Ruth is now working on four more full-length plays and a screenplay, and she has written a couple of disturbing 10-minute plays meant to challenge and amuse the fine actors of America. Ruth is also a poet and novelist, and holds a bachelor’s degree in English summa cum laude from St. John’s University, a master’s in English from NYU, and a master’s in Strategic Communications from Columbia University. Ruth is a member of the International Centre for Women Playwrights The Dramatists Guild, and the INKubator at Art House Productions.

Project Description

A childless widow, Rieko is faced with a failing mind, a changing neighborhood, and sketchy finances. She turns to her friend, Kimiko, who convinces her to find a new husband online. Their scheme results in not one but three marriages … marked by abuse, neglect, disappointment … and murder.
